Cervical area of the spine – poor posture can cause chronic neck tension, restriction of the Trapesius muscle groups within neck and shoulders, inflammation of the rotator cuff, nerve impingement, numb arms and tingling fingers, ALL through the dysfunction of ‘Plantarflexion’ ie “stooping’.

Neck pain known as cervicalgia, is a common problem, with more than two-thirds of the population having neck pain at some point in their lives. Neck pain, although felt in the neck, can be caused by numerous other spinal problems.

Postural neck pain may arise due to muscular tightness in both the neck and upper back, or pinching of the nerves emanating from the cervical vertebrae due to the bodies postural ‘plantar – flexion’ (standing forwards and down, ie; ‘stooping’ – while moving)

Joint/facet disruption in the neck creates pain, which can manifest an cause disruption within the Upper back.

The head is supported by the lower neck and upper back, and it is these areas – if inflamed that commonly cause neck pain. Therefore the more ‘plantar-flexed’ the skeletal structure, the more aggressive the Kyphosis (stooping).

The top three joints in the neck allow for most movement of the neck and head. The lower joints in the neck and those of the upper back create a supportive structure for the head to sit on. If this support system is affected adversely due to skeletal dysfunction and misalignment, then the muscles in these specific areas will tighten, leading to tension and thus chronic or mild neck pain.

The CiONE Postural Rejuvenation Programs, through the realignment of the Pelvis and the strengthening of the pelvic floor – creates a stable foundation within the main thoracic spine which allows the cervical vertebrae’s to operate with less restriction – thus reducing the muscular tensions around the neck and upper back…
